Welcome! Brad Tate - reviewer extraordinaire
My long-time friend and much faster reader, Brad Tate, has agreed to jump in with Quick Wit Lit and provide book reviews. Yay!! He definitely meets the sharp wit critieria and smartassness required to work with me. If you have a book you'd be interested in having Brad's take on, send a request through the contact tab on kimdrewwright.com and he'd be happy to consider it.
So, I asked Brad how he came into writing? Brad: I ran consistently for a year and a half, and finished my first marathon before I was comfortable thinking of myself as a runner (I actually "blogged" some of that adventure back when MySpace was a thing. Not sure any of that survived). It may be a while before I can confidently associate anything I do with actual writing. But, to your question - I have a BA in English Language and Literature. One of my first jobs after college, I worked as a technical writer for a couple of years before moving onto other things. Since my teens I've wanted to be a runner and I've wanted to write. In my 30s I realized I wasn't doing much of either and picked up the mantra "runners run" and "writers write". I've addressed the running. Still working on the writing.
Kim: What are your favorite books and authors?
Brad: Books - Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath and Hesse's Siddhartha. Authors - Bradbury, Vonnegut, Margaret Atwood (I ran across her in the last year or two), and I think I've read most of Caleb Carr's fiction. I'm a sucker for historical fiction and tales of distopian futures.
Welcome to Brad! Glad to have you on this crazy writing train.
